The PictureBox control is used to display graphics.

Use

The PictureBox control supports PNG, GIF, bitmap, JPEG and icon format. The image displayed is determined by the Picture property, which can be set at run time or at design time.

Inserting a picture box control
  1. Open the relevant screen in Designer () mode.
  2. Select Insert|PictureBox () from the main menu, then use your cursor to draw the graphic area on the screen.
  3. Select the Picture property from the Properties pane and navigate to the image that you want to display.
  4. Set any other relevant properties in the Properties pane.
Displaying an image

An image can be set via the Picture property in Designer or dynamically at runtime via a script or macro.

ALERT !

It is important to note that Newlook uses relative file paths therefore any images that you use must be deployed with your Newlook solution files to end users in the same relative location. It is recommended that you create an Images folder within your solution directory which contains all custom images used in your solution. This solution folder can then be deployed to end users and all relative paths remain intact.

Various properties affect how the image is displayed. PictureAlignment specifies how the image will be aligned within the control, PictureSize determines whether the image will be sized to fit the control and PictureOpacity allows you to control the opacity of the image displayed.

AlignToGridColumn

Gets or sets the grid column that this control is aligned to. Design-time only. Not available at run-time.

AllowDrop

Gets or sets whether the object allows drag/drop support. Newlook Smartclient-only property.

BackColor

Gets or sets the background color of the object.

BackStyle

Gets or sets a style which determines if the control's background is transparent or opaque.

BorderColor

Gets or sets the control's border color.

BorderStyle

Gets or sets the style of a control's border.

BorderWidth

Gets or sets the width (thickness) of the control's border.

BuddyControl

Gets or sets the control used as the buddy control.

BuddyKey

Gets or sets the AID key to be sent from the buddy control.

BuddyProperty

Gets or sets the property of the buddy control that is to be modified.

BuddyValue

Gets or sets the value that is to be passed to the buddy control.

CCSID

Gets or sets the Coded Character Set Identifier (CCSID), which defines the control's code page and character set.

CssClass

Gets or sets the CSS class, or classes, for the control in Newlook Server. Server-only.

DisabledPicture

Gets or sets the image file to be displayed in a form or control when it is in the disabled state.

DownPicture

Gets or sets the image file to display in the form or control when it has ben clicked.

DroppedFiles

Returns a collection of files dropped onto the object.

Enabled

Gets or sets the enabled state of the object.

FormControlsCollectionIndex

Sets or returns the current control index for an object.

Height

Returns or sets the height of the object's size in pixels at default size, which is the object's size at design-time.

HoverColor

Gets or sets the backcolor of the control when the user hovers their mouse over it (Picture box control only).

HoverPicture

Gets or sets the image file to display in the form or control when it the user hovers over it with a mouse.

Hyperlink

Specifies the anchor tag for the control.

Determines the distance, in pixels, between the left edge of the control and the left edge of its form or parent container at default size, which is the object's size at design-time.

MaskColor

Returns or sets the color in a bitmap image that should be interpreted as the transparent color. Deprecated property. Obsolete

Name

Gets or sets the name of this object.

OnClick

Gets or sets the name of the macro or script to be run when the Click event is triggered.

OnDblClick

Gets or sets the name of a macro or script to be run when the DblClick event occurs.

OnDrop

Gets or sets the name of a macro or script to be run when the Drop event occurs. Newlook Smartclient-only property.

OnGotFocus

Gets or sets the name of the macro or script to be run when the GotFocus event is triggered. Smartclient-only property.

OnLostFocus

Gets or sets the name of the macro or script to be run when the LostFocus event is triggered. Smartclient-only property.

OnMouseEnter

Gets or sets the name of the macro or script to be run when the MouseEnter event occurs. Smartclient-only.

OnMouseExit

Gets or sets the name of the macro or script to be run when the MouseExit event occurs. Smartclient-only.

Picture

Gets or sets the file name of the image to display in the control or form.

PictureAlignment

Gets or sets the image alignment in the parent container (form or control).

PictureColor

Sets or returns the color mapping that is used to display an image in a form or control. Deprecated property. Obsolete

PictureOpacity

Gets or sets a value which determines the opacity of a picture in a form or control.

PictureQuality

Sets or returns the image quality of a picture that appears in a form or control. Deprecated property. Obsolete

PictureSize

Gets or sets the way a picture is sized in its container. Smartclient-only.

PictureTile

Sets or gets a value which determines the method in which a picture is tiled in the container (can be either a form or control). Deprecated property. Obsolete

TabIndex

Gets or sets a value which determines the control's tab order.

TabStop

Gets or sets whether the Tab key can be used to set focus to the control.

Tag

Gets or sets user defined information for the control.

TakeFocusOnClick

Gets or sets whether the control will recieve focus when the user clicks on it.

ToolTipText

Gets or sets the control's tool-tip text.

Top

Determines the distance, in pixels, between the top edge of the control and the top edge of its form or parent container at default size, which is the object's size at design-time.

Type

Returns a value which specifies the control's type. Read only.

UseHoverColor

Gets or sets a value which determines whether the HoverColor property will be used. Smartclient-only.

UseMaskColor

Determines whether the color assigned in the MaskColor property is used. Deprecated property. Obsolete

Visible

Gets or sets whether the control, object or form is visible or hidden.

Width

Gets or sets the width of the object in pixels at default size, which is the object's size at design-time.
