Match Multiple Host Screens

By default, every time a host form is closed the recognition engine will verify that the characters defined as the Screen ID in a form, do not exist in the same position in any other host form in your collection. This process is known as "verifying forms" and can be manually initiated by selecting Tools | Verify Forms from the main menu at any time.

By ensuring that a Screen ID is unique, Newlook reduces the risk that an incorrect screen definition will match the current screen. At any given point in time the recognition is unaware of all the possible screens it may encounter in the future, thus the verify forms check is based only on a comparison between the current host form and other screens already identified.

Thus the first host form created will always be considered unique, no matter what Screen ID is chosen. As more host forms are added to the host forms collection, Newlook has a broader selection of forms to compare against, which may result in Newlook determining that some existing host screens need adjustment to maintain Screen ID uniqueness.

If the recognition engine detects that there is a conflict between the Screen IDs of two or more host forms in the collection it will generate a Screen Override Conflict dialog.

There are times however, when you may want the characters defined as a Screen ID to exist in multiple host forms. For instance, a variety of menu screens may all have a common screen element that you want to identify as a specific category or display with certain properties. You might also want to create a specific host form for one of those menu screens which caters for a different part of the screen. Selecting a common portion of the screen as the Screen ID for the generic menu host form and selecting the Match multiple host screens option causes the recognition engine to ignore the fact that the Screen ID is no longer unique. Choosing this option will stop Newlook presenting you with the Screen Override Conflict dialog forcing you to amend non-unique Screen IDs.
