Overriding Host Screen Text

You can use Identify to override default screen text recognition, for example, you might want to change the subfile heading text from Use to Function.

To edit host screen text:

  1. Open the relevant screen in Identify () . For information on confirming the screen ID, click here.
  2. Left-click to position the cursor at the start of the screen element (text) to be modified. This could be an existing screen element (text) or a vacant area of the screen.
  3. Type your changes. Any modified portion of the original host screen image will be shown in a highlighted color. To restore original screen text, simply use the Backspace key.
  4. Select the screen element and right-click to select the appropriate category. If you are replacing text, e.g. South East to South, you will need to apply the Ignore category to the remaining characters so they don't appear in the generated interface (in this example, you would select East and right-click to apply Ignore).
  5. Close and save the override.  For information on save options, click here.
NOTE:

If you are editing existing text, the text should start and end with an attribute byte. If you are adding new text to a vacant section of the screen, ensure you press Ctrl+A at the start and end of the text to insert the appropriate attribute bytes.

All text can be modified with the exception of Entry fields. You can also introduce new screen Output Fields. To maintain application data integrity, Entry fields cannot be altered via this method.
