Ignore borders and use the specified window area

This option is enabled by default, however, if you alter the window size area during the identification process, this option will be disabled.

Whenever a host form is saved, Newlook remembers the identified screen size of the host screen used to generate the host form. Normally this is a full screen size (24x80 or 27x132), however when a popup window is being identified, the popup windows coordinates are stored within the host form definition. The reasons for doing so are twofold:

  1. For greater performance - When a screen is received from the host, the recognition engine skips the screen identification process for any host form which is not the same window size as the received screen, improving efficiency.
  2. For better accuracy - When Newlook receives a screen from the host that contains a pop up window overlaying a prior screen, comparison of screen sizes allows popup windows to be recognized correctly, without any Screen IDs from a prior screen complicating recognition.

The comparison of screen sizes relies on Newlook determining the correct area for the current window. If Newlook incorrectly interprets the popup window area however, or determines that there is a popup window where there isn't one, you can change the window's size by selecting the appropriate window area, right clicking and selecting the “ Set Window Area ” command in Identify . As mentioned earlier however, the recognition engine skips the identification process for any host form whose window size is not the same size as the incoming screen. Given that the recognition engine is incorrectly interpreting the window size for the received screen, the host form created above will not apply by default. De-selecting the option to 'Ignore borders and user the specified window area' will force the recognition engine to ignore the window size and use the nominated Screen ID.

NOTE:

Use this option with caution as it can have unexpected results. For example, subsequent popup windows which appear on top of a screen saved with this options turned off must all be manually identified (and inserted in the correct recognition order), since the underlying screen will still match if the Screen ID string is still visible outside the new popup window's defined area.
