Use
An ActiveX control is a modular piece of software that can be inserted into your Newlook form. Typically they are small, modular and reusable. They are similar to Java applets however ActiveX controls are based on Microsoft's Component Object Model (COM).
ActiveX controls are used to add additional functionality to a form. For instance a notepad, calculator or 3D toolbar.
Common ActiveX Control Tasks
Inserting an ActiveX control
- Open the relevant screen
in Design (
)
mode. - Select Insert | ActiveX Control ()
from the main menu.
- Select the relevant ActiveX control that you wish to insert from the list of controls that are installed on your machine, then use your cursor to select the insertion position on your form.
- Specify a name for the control
TIP:
Properties of custom active X controls cannot be set in Designer. They will need to be set dynamically at run-time via a script or macro.
