Cos Function

Returns the cosine of an angle (expressed in radians). The Cos function takes an angle and returns the ratio of two sides of a right triangle. The ratio is the length of the side adjacent to the angle divided by the length of the hypotenuse.

To convert degrees to radians, multiply degrees by Pi/180. To convert radians to degrees, multiply radians by 180/Pi.

Cos (angle)

Parameters

Angle  -  (Input, expression, Required)

If a string is passed, it is first converted to numeric form. If a non-numeric value is passed, Error is returned.

Return Value

A floating point value in the range -1 to 1.

Examples

Cos (0)

Returns 1

Cos (1)

Returns 0.540302

Cos (“1.0”)

Returns 0.540302

Cos (Null)

Returns Error

Cos (Error)

Returns Error
